The evidence is clear

Research shows that even ‘mild’ or asymptomatic infections can inflict long-lasting damage. It isn’t just a cold, it is a full-body infection that can cause permanent damage to the cardiovascular system, the immune system, and the brain.

Each infection increases the risk of long-term, possibly permanent, damage. and children are not immune. The failure to prevent the spread of airborne illness in Ontario classrooms, has led to a hospital system in crisis with children dangerously ill with COVID, RSV, and the flu.

COVID is an airborne Level 3 biohazard that causes harm to the body long after the initial symptoms have gone away.

Interrupted learning

Frequent infections means kids miss more class time and fall farther and farther behind.

Immune dysregulation

COVID weakens the immune system and may leave children more at-risk of other infections like RSV and the flu.

Vascular damage

COVID damages the cardiovascular system and increases the risk of heart attack and stroke, even in young people.

Financial loss

Caring for sick children and household spread means missed work and lost income.

Poor mental health

Children have experienced loss, isolation, instability, and illness due to reactionary policies that put their well-being last.

Long-term illness

2-10% of infections in children cause long-term illness. There is no known cure for long COVID.

The risk of these outcomes increases dramatically with each additional infection.
